Aarambh started its first school (we provide free education) in the month of June
2008 at a remote village named Derhgaon in Rohtas district of Bihar. It was started
with 20 students and 1 teacher.
Derhgaon has a population of nearly seven thousand. It has govt. run one Primary
school, two Middle schools and one High school. Not every village has Middle and
High schools. These Middle and High schools have students from nearby eight/nine
villages, catering to more than 25000 village population. Approximately 1000 students
are enrolled in these govt. schools.
No need to say about school infrastructure, non-availability of teachers, non-motivational
teaching habits and other problems associated with govt. schools. Within one and
a half month of starting Aarambh's school, nearly 30 students became a regular in
our school. In next one-and-a-half month duration, the words spread and more parents
started sending their wards to Aarambh. Today, nearly 200 children (Nursery to Class
VII) and 7 teachers are with us. More than 50% students are girl.
We highly appreciate the faith of parents in Aarambh and for this credit goes to
our hard-working and motivated teachers.
Aarambh’s school runs at an open premise given to us by a resident of the village.
He was deeply moved by our cause and volunteered to offer his place (‘Duar’). This
school runs in two shifts. Morning session consists of Nursery to Class V while
evening session consists of Class VI and Class VII.
